After our morning adventures on the Great Sand Dunes, I stayed in the car on the parking lot while my fellow companions ate at a Chili's in Alamosa.And when we got to our yurt at the Joyful Journey Hot Springs and Spa, I sat and watched my fellow explorers find their way through the San Luis Valley past the neighboring tipis to Meditation Hill.
One of those mountains is probably Cottonwood Peak (13,558 feet).
I eventually revived enough to clean off the sand that was still stuck to my sunscreened legs and made my the joyful journey with the others to the natural mineral hot spring pools.

this was such a peaceful place! We enjoyed our walk to Meditation Hill. the kids created rock sculptures and looked desperately for snakes with no luck. I just love the Rockies and coming back here with the kids this time. It's so fun for Steve and I share are favorite places with the kids now.
