Kansas's Monument Rocks
The Monument Rocks in Gove County, Kansas, are a National Natural Landmark on private land, and you have to travel unpaved roads to get there. According to my good friends at Wikipedia, they are 80 million years old. Even on a long day of driving, they were worth the detour.

Who knew? What an amazing sight! I love the panoramic landscape with clouds.
It was a truly amazing place! We got wet in the rain and the other creatures we saw were beetles, birds and cows.
