On Friday, we received a
treasure trove of gifts from our good friends, The Gibsons, who now live in Saudi Arabia. Among the many treasures was a DVD featuring a Sound of Music-style performance by the Family Von Gibson, complete with kilts and bagpipe (played by Mhairi Gibson) which we were able to play on Mari's laptop. Emilio was captivated, as you can see in the photo at right, and I am not ashamed to say that I got a tear in my eye as I listened to the wall of Scottish sound produced by our old pals and reflected on anan cara.
Friday's temperature did get into the fifties, as expected, so Mari put on the newsboy hat I got her for Christmas (isn't it fetching?), and we loaded Emilio into the Baby Bjorn and took him out to see the world. He saw some of it, but soon fell asleep and continued to sleep while Mari and I shared a hamburger and a scrambled egg sandwich prepared by Joel, the cook at the Corner Grill. We were served by our favorite neighborhood waitress, Audrey, who, we learned, has been singing lately at a local club, the Kitty Moon (http://www.kittymoonchicago.com/). When Emilio woke up, Audrey enjoyed holding him.
While we were at the Corner Grill, we ran into Neo-Futurist Noelle Krimm, whom we've seen in many shows over the years at the Neo-Futurarium, including the first Neo-Futurst musical, City Girl, which she wrote and starred in. Noelle and her Neo-Futurist husband Sean recently had a Neo-Futurist daughter, and we got to meet her (she has very big eyes). After Noelle left, Audrey noticed that they had left a silver spoon behind, and we left it for Noelle at the Neo-Futurarium.
