Nina and I finished reading The Hobbit tonight.

Having seen the first two extended-edition installments of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy on DVD a couple of weeks ago, we are now counting down the days--twelve to go now--until we will join the rest of the family at the Ada Cinemark to catch the final installment.

The Sound of Carrie Underwood

Tonight's live broadcast of The Sound of Music on NBC features American Idol-winner Carrie Underwood, who is from Checotah, Oklahoma--which is just 110 miles from Ada.
Tonight's upstairs picnic menu: nutella and strawberry crepes, peanuts, almonds, pecans, lemonade, snow cones featuring actual snow, and "Simply Salted" Orville Redenbacher popcorn. We're digging Maria, the Mother Superior (Audra McDonald), Laura Benanti (The Baronness) and the rest of the cast (with the exception of Captain Stephen Moyer, who seems a little hysterical).
