My Favorite Ada Landmark

Because it is so close to our home, this is my favorite Ada landmark.

The Witchhat Water Tower was built by Chicago Bridge and Iron Works and served the Panama Canal Zone before coming to Ada, where it landed in 1917.

If you know where to look, you can see our house a couple of times in this video.

First day, new schools

Nina has Ms. Ruiz-Blanco for homeroom; Pablo has Ms. Ruiz-Blanco for reading. I think they're in good hands. For the next two years, Mari will be taking them to school every morning, and I will be taking Emilio to the Willard 5th and 6th grade center, which is just a couple of blocks from ECU. They'll hang out with her at Washington after school. I'll walk over to Willard to meet Emi, and most days he'll stay with me until 5 p.m.

Rio

On Day Two at the Olympics, Katie Ledecky broke the world record in the 400-meter free-style by nearly two seconds and finished four seconds ahead of the silver medalist. Michael Phelps swam the second leg of the Men’s 4x100m Freestyle relay. It was his first race in Rio and the U.S. team won the gold.
