Liberté, égalité, fraternité
I included a one-man barbershop quartet version of "La Marseillaise" by Trudbol A Cappella (Julien Neel) on the CD that provided the soundtrack for our summer vacation trip to Montana because I like it and because everything we saw was part of the Louisiana Purchase. Emi and I learned it first and then we taught Nina and Pablo. They don't know the meaning of the words or even when one word ends and another begins some of the time, but they know it's the French National Anthem and it's fun to sing.

The Trinity Railway Express
We're headed to the Dallas Museum of Art.

When we got to the Museum, Granddaddy accompanied Pablo, Nina went with Mari, and I went with Emilio.
Afterwards, when I asked Pablo about the difference between visiting an art museum with Mari, visiting one with Granddaddy and visiting one with me, he said Mari looks at the art like a fan, Granddaddy looks at it like an artist, and I look at it like a journalist.

While at the Museum, we saw an exhibition titled "Vermeer Suite: Music in 17th-Century Dutch Painting," which was advertised on giant posters like the one Nina is standing in front of outside the Museum.

Hillsboro Fourth
After visiting Aunt Lila in Whitney, we dropped by the Hillcrest Garden of Memory cemetery and took this photo by the corn stalks in the neighboring field. We've been here before.
After leaving the cemetery, we got ice creams at Dairy Queen and the person who brought the Blizzard to our table, turned it upside down to demonstrate how thick it was. It wasn't that thick, though.

Pablo, Stenenmut, Nina, Maria and Jesus
Our first stop at the Kimbell Museum was the gift shop, where Pablo and Nina picked out post cards featuring works of art they hoped to find.
They found them.

"Kneeling Statue of Stenenmut, Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut" (ca 1473-1458 BCE).
"Virgin and Child" (1486).
