A Fine Fifteen

As regular readers of mariajrb.blogspot.com know, as of last Monday, March 13th, María José and I have been together for fifteen years. On our anniversary, we started to make a list of one thing we could remember about each year, but we got sidetracked. Since then, I’ve spent some more time thinking about it (and consulting computer files, diaries and photo albums) and have come up with the list below. Some years included several vivid memories of places visited, but I've limited myself to one per year here. It has been quite a ride!

I didn't know Jack had his own island.
Congratulations. You guys do a great job of being together and have given me lots of inspiration and encouragement in my endeavors to be in and have healthy relationships. Keep up the good work and know that some of us really appreciate the effort you put into it.
We all need good role models for how to keep it alive and fresh and healthy.
much love . . .

If you go to the Isle of Lewis, as we have, you can buy postcards, as we have, of a cliff on the north side of the island at a spot called "The Butt of Lewis." Then you can put the Butt of Lewis on your refrigerator door for all to see.

Maybe Jack could just hook me up with a homegrown photo of the same?

Welp, Ruth and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary this year. We got married in Juarez,Mexico. Hmmm, 46 photos? Lets see,(1) the big jackalope in Odessa, Tx, (2) The courthouse in Kermit, TX, (3) Ruth's brother's bar, with the partial dirt floor, dogs walking in and out, the velvet nude on the wall, Patrons calling cabies to bring dog food for the dogs on cold evenings at a price of around 25 dollars, (4) a drilling rig, which reminds me, when I drove through that country a few weeks ago I had to drive through several hundred miles of oil fields and perhaps a million oil wells, some capped waiting for the price to rise above 100 dollars a barrell, I noticed that only about one in fifty pump jacks were pumping oil. Talk about price control! We don't have a snowball chance in Hell, now or ever, of paying what gasoline is really worth, about 48 cents a gallon, and the only cry I could yell is "revolution now!" Someday we have to stop letting the old money politicians turn us against each other, unite, and throw them all through the gates that read, "abandon all hope, ye who enter here," and rejoice as they burn in Hell.

I love the way you got up to four, Gene, and then slipped and fell into a rant about politicians and the high price of oil. Death to the exploiters! Woo-hoo!

An ex-propaganda expert can recognize the drums of war. Since General Reagan was "half way in charge, in several ways" and approved of things, the media has used an average of about 2 to 3 years to prepare us for military intervention to protect "American interests" of Chase Manhatten, Citi-Corp, American Fruit Company and all the other managers of old money including and no less important, organized crime. Curently the mass media is preparing us for a war against Iraan. They are even talking about low yield nuclear weapons this time. Unless Russia and China can persuade us (pun intended)to come to our senses, including the brat that runs Iraan, we are in for a few more years of brinkmanship, This time dealing with characters chewing pyote and taking dots. 911 popped the cork off the bottle and let the genie out. It's time for someone to go around and find the genius of evil, stuff it back into the bottle, lock it and throw away the keys. What mystifies me is the kind of world Chase Manhatten expects to rule, a world void of life and completely covered with various thicknesses of glass.

The Iraqi invasion was despicable enough, but to hear that the U.S. war machine is targeting a tiny Texas town like Iraan--population 1336,for heaven's sake--is just beyond the pale. Death to the Mafia! Death to the American Fruit Company!
