Day Three: Saguaro

The featured event on day three of our summer sojourn was the Saguaro National Park, northwest of Tucson. The rest of the day was spent driving across the Sonoran desert to California.

On our way to the Saguaro National Park, I realized that the hillsides outside the park are thick with cacti. The drive to get to the park was even more impressive than the walks we took once we got there.


Yes, Pablo is leaning on a Saguaro cactus, and no, he was not harmed posing for this photo.

There are over 200 pre-historic Native American petrogyphs on this hill. Researchers believe they are at least 550 years old, and they may be as many as 1500 years old.

After we reached our hotel in Blythe, California, the kids took a dip.
